Gone are the days of women needing to learn rules and stats to be able to enjoy a sporting event of any kind.
To be clear, knowing rules and stats has never been needed to enjoy a sporting event. But much like with many other things, we as women have let men convince us that there is only one way to do things: their way. Thankfully, we continue to wake up and push back on many lies men have convinced us of. One of the biggest lies is that sports are for them.
Sports are for everyone and there is not only one way to enjoy them. The “dads, Brads, and Chads” (thanks Taylor Swift), have their way, filled with jerseys, and stats, and getting surprisingly angry when things don’t go “their way”. The girls, however, can have a much different experience when watching sports. If only we’re bold enough to push back on the “norm” and start enjoying sports our way, what I like to call the Bombshell Way!
The Bombshell Way is simple. Grab the girls and turn game day into girl’s night. As a woman, I know how powerful a girl’s night is for the soul. Getting ready, getting dressed, texting the group chat, and meeting at a cute restaurant is an experience like no other. So, add a sports game to the night out in addition to dinner and drinks. Put on a great outfit, try a new restaurant, and head to the game. I promise you’ll make memories that last a lifetime.
Fashion icon Iris Apfel famously said,
“When you don’t dress like everyone else, you don’t have to think like everyone else.”
I couldn’t agree more Iris! I believe that the clothes we wear are ways to share our creativity with the world. I know that getting dressed, and going to dinner with your girlfriends is healing for the soul and a unique female experience.
Adding a sporting event to the itinerary might seem intimidating if you aren’t a regular sports connoisseur … bear with me. I believe that going to a sporting event of any kind is enjoyable because you make it so, not because of what you know. It doesn’t matter what the boys say, you don’t need to know the sport, or players, or wear a jersey to enjoy a sporting event. Yes, you may get judged by a jersey-wearing Chad, but honestly, who cares what he thinks anyway? I can’t wait to see the outfits you wear, the restaurants you discover, and the sporting events you take over!
Here’s to you Bombshell, I’ll see you at the game!
xoxo, Abigail
